Trucks and Trykes

Ryan bought a bike for his birthday with the money he received from his aunt Cheryl. It is a "big boy bike" according to Ryan. He loves it. It is a black and yellow Tonka bike. But Ryan says it is a Bumblebee (from Transformers) bike. He is constantly wanting to go ride his bike. Which in turn, forced Ally to ride her bike. She got a bike with training wheels last August for her birthday. However, her first time taking a ride on it she tipped over. Since then she has refused to ride it. Well, there is nothing like sibling rivalry to force one to ride a bike. Now, I have two kids who are constantly begging me to go bike riding. I love it!Here they are riding their bikes at the park as I walk behind them.

So, that covers the trykes, but what about the trucks part. Well Henry and I have been car shopping for about 4 years. This is not a joke. When Ryan was born we went van shopping, then a year later we were shopping for crossover vehicles, then we were looking for a vehicle to replace my Xterra. Well, the last couple months we started talking about Henry getting a vehicle to replace his 2001 Saturn car. We looked at small SUV's and small trucks. We finally decided on a truck for him and this weekend Henry got his truck! He loves it. Do you know he can answer his phone through his steering wheel and talk without having to connect or pick up anything.

Bluewater Lake

Ok, this is a little out of order. But, I want to get these photos posted. Two weekends ago we went camping at Bluewater Lake near Grants, NM. We had a fun time with just the four of us. We walked around the camp site and tried fishing. However, it was so windy that our fishing lines kept coming back to us.
Ally and Ryan just plopped themselves down on a rock and just watched the lake for about 5 minutes. I love moments like these.

Here is Henry helping Ally with casting.

Mom snacking with the kids in the pop up camper.

Various fishing pictures.

Ryans Birthday Party

We had a birthday party for Ryan on Saturday. We rented a jumping balloon, ordered pizzas and salads, served cake an ice cream and had a great time with friends a family.
Here is Ryan jumping with Kraig, one of his best friends from school. And here is Henry trying to tip the jumping balloon over. The plan backfired and he ended tangling himself up and falling to the ground

Here is Ryan with his birthday cake. The theme of his party was Star Wars, but I couldn't find a Star Wars cake. I called Wal-Mart and they said they had Star Wars cakes. However, when I showed up, they only had Star Trek. When I pointed this out, they said "isn't it the same?" So, I had to go with the transformers cake. Which Ryan did not mind. Henry let him watch Transformers, the movie, and the boy is hooked.

Here is Ryan with his favorite gifts (thanks Grandma and Grandpa Turtle). When ever anyone would ask him what he wanted for his birthday he would answer a cloneswar helmet and gun.

Ryan the Athlete

So, if you know Ryan (who by the way turns 4 in 9 days), you know what an athlete he is. Credit for this does not go to mom or dad. It is a random fluke in genetics. Ryan loves to watch any sport (including golf or bowling) and he loves to play sports. He is constantly asking when are we going to go to an Isotopes (baseball) game. He loves to go to my friend, Rebecca's, softball games. So, when it came time to sign him up for summer activities I signed him up for 'Lil Sluggers (baseball) and 'Lil Kickers (soccer). These are not organized teams. They are through the city to introduce kids 4-6 the basics of the game. Sunday night, I told Ryan that he had baseball on Monday. Oh, how the boy threw a fit. He didn't want baseball, only soccer. After much fitting, I told him to deal with it and to go to bed. Monday morning the first things out of his mouth, when he was still lying in bed, was "I don't want baseball". Again, if you know Ryan, you know the temper and stubbornness that boy has. So, I dragged him kicking and screaming to baseball (after all, I had all ready paid for it).

Here he is refusing to be part of the group. He stuck by me the first 1/2 and then he joined the other kids. The coaches were pretty impressed with his throwing and batting skills. Ryan is constantly playing baseball at home. I honestly belive that he did not want to participate in baseball because it was not his idea.

He had 'Lil Kickers on Tuesday and he dove right into that. He listened so intently to the coaches and tried his hardest. Here is a picture of Ryan kicking the ball up the field. Oh, I love my Ry-ry.

Circus

So, we went to the circus and I remembered to take my camera! The kids really enjoyed it. When asked what was their favorite part, they both answer "when the elephant peed everywhere!" It was as disgusting as it sounds. The circus is a dying breed. To me, it felt like I was watching an episode of America's got talent. But overall, it was a nice way to spend the afternoon.

Here is the famous peeing elephant.
